Mikel Arteta’s men are opened up their shortened pre-season programme with a 4-1 victory over MK Dons on Tuesday evening.
William Saliba, who made his Gunners debut has been impressed as the north London club cruised to victory in their only outing ahead of Saturday’s Community Shield against Premier League champions Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta’s men flew out of the traps and were two goals to the good inside the opening 10 minutes of the games at Stadium MK.
Midfielder Mohamed Elneny gave Mikel Arteta’s side the lead on the fifth minutes with a thunderous strike, before forward Eddie Nketiah doubled the visitors advantage five minutes later after a flowing counter-attack.
The home side hit back just after the half-hour when Gunners defender Rob Holding put through his own net with a diving header.
However, Mikel Arteta’s men doubled their advantage again with 14 minutes to go when substitute Mark McGuinness powered home a fine header after brilliant cross from Reiss Nelson.
And a comfortable win was wrapped up in the 85th minutes when winger Reiss Nelson scored from the spot after he was brought down in the penalty area.
