Watch Full Highlight: Arsenal 0-1 Olympiacos

Mikel Arteta’s men were content to rely on their commanding first-leg lead as they advanced to the Europa League quarter-finals despite losing 1-0 at home to Olympiacos.

Youssef-El Arabi made amends for a first-half miss to open the scoring with a deflected 51st-minute strike after a period of intense Olympiacos pressure early in the second-half.

But the Greek champions – who were defeated 3-1 in last week’s first leg – never looked like scoring the other two goals they needed to progress to the next round of the competitions.

Mikel Arteta swiftly made changes to ensure Arsenal restored the control they had displayed throughout the first-half and the Gunners had little trouble seeing out their aggregate victory.

The Gunners were wasteful on the night with the returning Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang squandering fine chances in both halves, while Nicolas Pepe and Martin Odegaard both went close late on.

But Mikel Arteta’s side were not made to pay for their shortcomings in front of goal and their 3-2 aggregate victory was all-but confirmed as Ousseynou Ba was shown two yellow cards in quick succession for fouling Gabriel Martinelli then kicking the ball at him.

Arsenal’s attention now turns to the Europa League quarter-finals draw on Friday, during which they will also learn their potential semi-final opponents.
