Still only 20-year-old, James forced his way into Frank Lampard’s plans after an impressive loan spell at Wigan Athletic. From there, he hasn’t looked back, making 37 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions last season with one goal and three assists.
And this season James’ improvement performances have continued as his speed, stamina and lethal crossing have made him one of Chelsea’s most dangerous weapons.
James’ flying wing play, in tandem with Ben Chilwell, has given Chelsea a new dimension in attack and between them they have five assists in all competitions, with Chilwell providing three.
Even the dynamic between James and Hakim Ziyech is already proving fascinating, with the technically gifted Morocco winger’s ability to cut inside on his left foot, turning defenders inside out as they try to cope with both.
James, who blessed with an abundance of pace and crossing, scored one goal and contributed two assists in all competitions for Chelsea so far this season.
