Report: Chelsea set to sign Kai Haverz after seal Timo Werner transfer

Chelsea have reportedly interested in stealing Liverpool and Manchester United transfer target Kai Havertz after secure the sign of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.

The 20-year-old creative midfielder has continued his impressive form by scoring five goals since the Bundesliga restart following the coronavirus shutdown.

His performance attracted interest from top clubs across the Europe, especially English Premier League side, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.

And according to BILD’s Head of Football, Christian Falk, claims the Blues are interested in making a move to sign Havertz ahead of their rivals Liverpool and Manchester United who also said to be interested in Germany international.

Chelsea are making a big splash in the transfer market before the window is even open following report claimed earlier of this week that Roman Abramovich is ready to back Frank Lampard with at least two big-money signings with Leicester’s Ben Chilwell the priority.

Frank Lampard is keen to continue his squad rebuilding, having paid £37.5m to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax earlier in the year.

He then followed it up by reportedly agreeing to trigger Werner’s £53m release clause, bringing the Liverpool target to Stamford Bridge once the window opens.

Havertz, who scored 15 goals across all competitions this term, previously admitted a move abroad would interest him.

He said : ‘I want to take the next step in my career at some point. That’s my ambition. I’m ready to take a big step and I like challenges. For me, this also includes abroad.’

Meanwhile, Leverkusen have reportedly want at least £70million for the attacking midfielder, meaning the Blues will have to continue spending big in order to sign him.

They will face competition from elsewhere, however, as Madrid have reportedly submitted a bid already.
