Report: Chelsea made move for Mauro Icardi after PSG £53m bid for Inter forward rejected

Chelsea are reportedly in the hunt for striker Mauro Icardi, as Paris Saints-Germain struggle to agree a deal for the on loan striker with his parent club Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old joined the Ligue 1 champions on a season-long loan from Inter Milan with an option to buy him for £62milliion.

Paris Saints-Germain are keen to do a deal but don’t want to pay the full price, with their £53million offer rejected by Serie A side.

And according to The Sun Chelsea have been alerted to the prospect of signing goalscorer Icardi, who has scored 20 goals with four assist in 31 appearances in all competitions for PSG this season.

Frank Lampard are keen to strengthen his attacking options with both Michy Batshuayi’s and Olivier Giroud’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge in doubt.

The Blues are now prospect of signing striker Icardi, who has eight caps for Argentina, came through the youth system at Barcelona before getting his first taste of first-team action with Sampdoria.

The 27-year-old then moved to Inter in the summer of 2013 for £11.5million, where he scored 124 goals in 219 appearances for the club over six years in San Siro.
