Report: Arsenal lead race to land Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik on the cheap

Arsenal have reportedly leading the race to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik, who scored 14 goals in all competitions this term.

The 26-year-old has been tracked by a number of Premier League clubs but according to La Repubblica, claims Arsenal are winning the race to sign the Poland international.

Arkadiusz, has been wants by Serie A champions but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis prefer sell him to abroad rather than strengthening rivals Juventus would be willing to offer a discount price.

The reports explains in details that Napels chief would be prepare to accept an offer below their £45million asking price due to Milik refusing to extend his current contract which is expire in 2021.

The Poland international has worked closely with Arsenal icon Dennis Bergkamp during his time at Ajax and might be tempted to follow his former mentors footsteps in north London.

‘When I joined the club [Ajax] we had a good relationship because I wanted to spend time after training working on my technique,’ Milik said back in 2016 of his relationship with Bergkamp according to The Daily Star.

‘We had good contact between us. We text each other and I send him my greetings from here.

‘Dennis is a special person, a player who had a great career and you can constantly learn from him. I try to take as much as possible from him.’

Arsenal, meanwhile, could replace skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng who is yet to extend his current contract which expires next summer.
