Report: Arsenal close in on Houssem Aouar with they agreeing personal terms with Lyon star two weeks ago

Arsenal are reportedly agreeing personal terms with Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar on a long-term contract two weeks ago.

The 22-year-old creative midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates ahead of the October 5 deadline, and it appears as though the player himself is desperate to get the deal over the line.

The Gunners have already brought in wide winger Willian and highly-rated defender Gabriel Magalhaes to Mikel Arteta’s squad while re-signing Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid.

But Mikel Arteta is still wants to further strengthen options in midfield with powerful midfielder Thomas Partey and Lyon’s attack-minded midfielder Houssem Aouar on his wishlist.

And according to The Italian journalist Nicolo Schira revealed on Twitter that Aouar agreed a five-year deal with Arsenal as long as two weeks ago, which leaves the clubs locked in negotiations.

He added that Arsenal have not made an acceptable offer despite personal terms being over the line, and that Mikel Arteta is keen to get it sorted as soon as possible.

The Gunners have already boost their transfer kitty with the sale Emiliano Martinez to Aston Villa for a fee of around £20million while they are also in talks to loan Lucas Torreira to Torino, with an obligatory fee of £22million to be paid next summer.

Even, The French outlet Telefoot Chaine, claims that the Gunners are set to make an offer of over €40million (£36m) for Aouar, who scored nine goals and contributed ten assists in all competitions last season.
