Maddison To Arsenal: The Foxes Star Agreed To Join Arsenal As Edu Gasper Working On Completed The Deal

James Maddison has been reportedly open to the idea of joining Arsenal this summer, as club technical director Edu Gasper working on getting the deal done before the end of transfer window.

The 24-year-old playmaker has been subject interest from Mikel Arteta, who is keen to strengthen his squad further following the arrival of Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.

According to Sky Sport, James Maddison is open to a move to Arsenal this summer, despite the fact that Leicester City qualified for European competitions last season.

The Englishman feels moving to Arsenal would aid his development after his recent Euro 2020 exclusion.

The reports explain in details that there remains doubt as to whether the Gunners can raise a fee that Leicester would accept for the 24-year-old, with the club having already spent £50m on signing defender Ben White from Brighton.

However, club technical director Edu Gasper exploring alternative ways of structuring the deal, with a cash-plus-players offer a possibility if there are available Arsenal players that interest Leicester.

It’s understood that Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, Eddie Nketiah including Ainsley Maitland-Niles believed could be part of the proposal as Mikel Arteta find best possible way to get his primary target.

Leicester, on the other hand, rejected an offer £70m for Maddison from another Premier League club last summer before the 24-year-old signed a new four-year deal worth a £100,000 a week, but Mikel Arteta’s side believed they can get their primary target before end of the summer since he interested in move to London club.

The Gunners have identified Real Madrid playmaker Martin Odegaard as alternative to Maddison, who scored 27 goals with additional 18 assists in 118 appearances since joining Leicester from Norwich in 2018 for a fee in the region of £20m.
