Just In: See How Frank Lampard Response to Blues submitted offer for Kai Havertz

Head coach Frank Lampard has labelled Kai Havertz as a ‘top player’ but insists the club has yet to make an offer for the German star.

Earlier this morning reports has been suggested that Chelsea have made an £80million bid for Leverkusen star Kia Havertz, who is valued at £75million or more.

But Blues boss Frank has denied that Chelsea submitted an £80million bid for the 21-year-old, who has been monitoring by Europe’s biggest clubs with including Manchester United and Real Madrid.

And Lampard, speaking ahead of Chelsea’s home mouthwatering encounter with Manchester City on Thursday, said: ‘He is obviously a top player but we are not going to comment on players of other teams. No bids have gone in.’

The Blues have already secured the signing of Ajax ace Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner to strong their Premier League title ambitions for next.

Havertz, 21, has enjoyed a wonderful campaign with Leverkusen, scoring 16 goals and contributing nine assists across all competitions.

Chelsea, who restarted their season with a 2-1 victory at Aston Villa on Sunday, will hope to strengthen their grip on a Uefa Champion League spot by defeats Pep Guardiola’s side at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening.

Frank Lampard’s side are currently five points ahead of fifth placed Manchester United but that could be trimmed to two points should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side beat Sheffield United on Wednesday night.
