Just In: Mikel Arteta deliver update on Arsenal transfer targets for Gunners Fans

Head coach Mikel Arteta has moved to reassure Arsenal supporters that the north London outfit ready to make some key signings in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal are likely to be linked with a whole host of potential signings this summer as Mikel Arteta keen to strengthen his squad ahead of his first full season in charge of the Gunners.

The north London outfit have struggled to find consistent form this season and they ended up sacking Unai Emery in November and bringing in Mikel Arteta as his permanent replacement at the end of last year.

Attentions will now inevitably start to turn towards the summer transfer window and the north London club are plans for recruitment ahead of next campaign.

With Premier League transfer window officially opens today and it will run until 5 October in wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Now, Mikel Arteta has opened up about his plan for the summer transfer window as he keen to add some quality to his current squad ahead of his first full season in charge at The Emirates.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Arteta said: ‘I am encouraged that we are on the same page, and that we are going to try to do our best to evolve the team.

‘First of all the players we already have here, if there is anything extra to help them more and give them a better environment, and then, if we go into the market and we have to do things, to decide which ones to do and how quickly we can do them.

‘We are completely ready for that, and I also have a really good understanding with [technical director] Edu. We have been working together very closely to put together a plan that we are convinced can be successful.

‘But also, it’s important to have all the information you need from the team that you have, from the players, from everything.

‘That took some time as well.’

Asked if signing creative players will be a priority in the transfer window, Arteta replied: ‘That is one of the areas we can improve, but also, how important those players are will depend on the way we are going to attack, because some different teams do it differently.

‘Liverpool, for example, do it in a different way, without using the pockets in that manner, and they are still very effective.

‘You see the assists created by their two full-backs compared to the No 10s that Manchester City have, for example. It’s an equal number but a completely different style. So there are different ways to do it.’

Meanwhile, reports claimed that the north London side have identified Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey, Barcelona’s Philippe Coutinho and RB Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai as their top targets to bolster their midfield options ahead of next.

Partey, 27, has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal with boss Mikel Arteta identified him as a possible solution for the defensive issues in Arsenal’s midfield in recent seasons.

And according The to Spanish publication La Razon, claims Mikel Arteta’s side are desperate to bring the Ghanaian international to Emirates stadium this summer by triggered his £47million release clause.

Partey, 27, who contracted at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium until 2023, stalls over a new deal with the Spanish club.

RB Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai is another talented midfielder that strongly linked with a move to Emirates due to his outstanding performance for the club.

Earlier of last month reports suggested that the Gunners are ‘well advanced’ in their efforts to sign the 19-year-old midfielder and following day the reports provided an updates regarding the situations that the Austrian Bundesliga side would be willing to accept over three installments over the 19-year-old.

Szoboszlai, who made his debut for RB Salzburg in 2018, enjoyed a breakthrough season this campaign, having scored 10 goals and contributed 16 assists in 37 appearances across all competitions for his club.

Arsenal also said to be interesting in bringing Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho to Emirates stadium this summer.

The Brazilian star has struggled to hitting superb form since arrived at Camp Nou in January 2018 from Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and he was shipped out on a season loan to Bayern Munich for this campaign.

The 28-year-old has made impressive starting in Bundesliga where is scored eight goals and provided nine assists in all competitions, but the German champions are reportedly not interested in signing the Brazilian star on a permanent deal.

Reports are suggested that the north London club have been in contact with Coutinho’s representative for several months.

Meanwhile, Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian is the one who represent both David Luiz and Cedric Soares, who just signed a new deal with north London club.

And is looking to manufacture a move that will see the Brazilian join Arsenal on loan this summer and is also behind the transfer of Willian and Sporting Lisbon wonderkid Joelson Fernandes strongly linked with a move to Emirates.

Even reports suggested that Representatives from Arsenal were due to fly out early this week in order to close the deal and secure the wonderkid’s signature.
Levante midfielder Enis Bardhi, Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca, and Valencia star Carlos Soler are also said to be targets by Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal can still end the season with a trophy when they take on Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley on Saturday evening.

The Gunners have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph under Arsene Wenger back in 2003-04.
