Just In: Mikel Arteta Breaks Social Media Silence To Send Arsenal Fans Message Over Vlahovic Deal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has admitted that world’s best players like Dusan Vlahovic interested to sign the club despite not play in Europe competitions.

The Gunners, who have not qualified for the UEFA Champions League since 2016, are yet to sign anyone this month, but are interested in deal to bring Fiorentina sensation Dusan Vlahovic to the Premier League.

The frontman, who in 2021 equalled Ronaldo’s record for Serie A goals scored in a calendar year, is understood to prefer a move to a Champions League side.

But according to Mikel Arteta, world-class talent like Dusan Vlahovic interested in sign for the north London club, who are currently fourth in the Premier League.

‘Historically, this club has been targeting the best players in the world and the best players in the world were always interested to come here,’ said Arteta, ahead of Thursday’s Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Liverpool.

‘I consider that situation hasn’t changed. That is one of our biggest powers.

‘Every time I have spoken to any player they were so willing to come, I have not faced any other situation.

‘Our capacity to get the attention of people to come to our club, is something that is a big advantage for us.’

Mikel Arteta also admitted that Eddie Nketiah will remain at the club despite his current deal expires at the end of the season.

‘The situation is that Eddie is our player and he is going to stay here with us,’ said Arteta.

Asked if that ruled out a move away in January, the Gunners boss answered: ‘He is our player and he is under contract, so he will stay with us.’

Meanwhile, reports by Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb claims Arsenal have made fresh contact with Juventus in an attempt to sign Arthur.

The Gunners are desperately short of midfield options and are looking into the market for reinforcements.

Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny are at the Africa Cup of Nations and Granit Xhaka has been isolating after testing positive for Covid.

As a result of that Mikel Arteta’s side have made ‘new contact’ with Juventus in an attempt to sign midfielder Arthur on loan.
