Just In: Chelsea given Hakim Ziyech & Ben Chilwell injury boost before visit of Southampton

Ben Chilwell left the England camp earlier this week as a precaution and has been able to train since returning to Chelsea, while Frank Lampard is expected to finally give a Premier League debut to Hakim Ziyech against Southampton tomorrow afternoon.

The Blues boss Frank Lampard will be reluctant to push the Morocco winger, who played 30 minutes in an international friendly against Senegal last week, too hard after almost two months out with a knee problem.

That means he could start from the substitute bench against Saint at Stamford Bridge but he is fit enough to be in the matchday squad.

Ben Chilwell has not suffered a severe set back to his foot injury despite fears that he had reinjured it while on international duty.

Just over two weeks ago the 23-year-old left back spoke about his concerns over the injury that delayed his debut.

Plantar fascia issues are notoriously slow to heal and the medical staff at Cobham training base were taking precautions to ensure he had fully recovered.

That is why it took so long for the left back to make his debut following a £50million move from Leicester City.
