‘I Thinks It Was Red Card’: Watch Ben Godfrey Stamp Tomiyasu Face With His Boot As VAR Ignores The Incident

Everton’s Ben Godfrey escaped a red card for landing his boot on the face of Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu because the Video Assistant Referee ruled the incident to be an accidental collision.

In the 28th minute of the match at Goodison Park, Tomiyasu tussled with the Everton midfielder Allan. As Tomiyasu went to ground Godfrey got a touch of the ball, before his follow through caused him to catch the Arsenal player’s face with his studs.

The incident left Tomiyasu with a small cut to his face.

Referee Mike Dean consulted the VAR to check for a possible red card for serious foul play. But the VAR ruled that it was not a red card offence.
