On 29 December 2020, Costa and Atlético agreed to terminate their contract, making Costa a free-agent, and joined Brazilian club Atlético Mineiro on 14 August 2021.
The 33-year-old forward, who signing a deal until December 2022, coming off the bench to scored on his debut on 29 August as Atlético Mineiro draw 1-1 to Red Bull Bragantino.
