Chelsea First Summer Signing Head To London For Medical After Marina Granovskaia Strike The Deal

Marcus Bettinelli could become Chelsea first summer signing after the club director Marina Granovskaia strike the deal of former England international goalkeeper, according to reports.

The ex-Fulham shot-stopper, turned down advances from Aston Villa and agreed a two-year deal the Champions League holder after his deal at Craven Cottage expired.

Report by Dailymail, claimed Bettinelli, 29, is expected to complete his medical and sign for the west London club in the next 48 hours.

Following the departure of Willy Caballero at the end of last month, Chelsea have been on look out for a new goalkeeper as back-up of Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Provided the deal does not hit any last minute hitches, Bettinelli will offer back-up to first choice Edouard Mendy and competition for No 2 Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Importantly, the 29-year-old will add to Chelsea’s homegrown contingent.

The Blues have beaten Villa to Bettinelli’s signature, with Dean Smith also keen on the shot-stopper.
