Chelsea have easily secured comfortable victory over Birmingham City in the Women’s Super League on Sunday, with the defending champions claimed 5-0 victory over the visitor.
The Blues made perfect start to the game and found themselves lead inside three minutes through Fran Kirby. The English professional footballer put Emma Hayes side’s ahead with an audacious lob before Sam Kerry netted an hat-rick in 26 minutes.
The Australian, who linked up effectively with Jessie Fleming on several occasions, doubled Chelsea lead through rebound.
Kerr added her second and third on the stroke of half-time and though Birmingham improved after the break, but Fran Kirby extended Chelsea’s lead later on.
Emma Hayes side’s could have scored more too – Bethany England dragged a shot wide when through one-on-one and Lauren James and Kerr came close.
Comfortable victory over Birmingham City, means the defending champions are just one point below Women’s Super League leaders Arsenal.
The Blues, meanwhile, will look to maintain their title challenge at Reading on December 11, following the FA Cup final against Arsenal and a Champions League group game with Juventus.
