Arsenal news and gossip is coming in thick and fast and Sportarena is on hand to bring you all the very latest from Emirates stadium.

Lyon chief confirmed he has spoken to Arsenal about Aouar’s availability

Lyon sporting director Juninho Pernambucano has stated that Arsenal have held talks with Ligue 1 side over the possibility of signing Houssem Aouar but are not interested in Matteo Guendouzi in the wake of Arsenal’s player-plus-cash swap offer for 22-year-old midfielder.

The Gunners are keen on bringing Aouar to the Emirates stadium this summer with Arsenal technical director Edu Gasper reportedly offering £44million plus Guendouzi for the Lyon midfielder.

But the French club have knocked back Arsenal’s initial offer as Juninho thinks Matteo Guendouzi is not the right player for them.

He told French radio station Top of the Foot: ‘I get on very well with Edu, we spoke on the phone. Aouar is really appreciated by Mikel Arteta.

‘Guendouzi was discussed during the call, he is a great player, but he is the wrong profile. We are not interested in that at all, we cut the conversation.’

Aouar, 22, is one of the most highly-rated midfielders in Europe after a stellar season which saw him guide Lyon to the Champions League semi-finals.

Aouar, who has been deployed as an attack-minded central midfielder, a defensive midfielder and also as a left-sided attacker, scored nine goals and contributed ten assists for the Ligue 1 giant in all competitions last season.

Coutinho’s agent reveals where his client will play next season amid Arsenal interest

Barcelona attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho will stay at Camp Nou for 2020-21 campaign according to his agent Kia Joorabchian, who admitted that new head coach Ronald Koeman interesting in services of Brazilian star.

The 28-year-old spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, won the treble trophies with them and scored 11 goals with nine assists but the Bundesliga champions opted against making the move permanent.

That led to speculation that the likes of Arsenal and Newcastle could be his next destination but according to his agent Kia Joorabchian has confirmed that the attacking midfielder will stay at Camp Nou.

When asked if Coutinho will stay at Barcelona this summer, Joorabchian told talkSPORT: ‘Yeah’.

‘Koeman called him right after the Champions League victory with Bayern, the following day, and told him he’s very much in his plans and would like him to return.

‘He was due to return on September 7 but actually he returned at the beginning of September because he didn’t want to lose his momentum and fitness, and he’s been training with Barcelona.’

Barcelona made move for Hector Bellerin

Barcelona have reportedly enter the race to land Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin, who has been heavily linked with a move to PSG in recent week.

According to the Marca, claims the Catalans giants are ready to meet Gunners’ £23million asking price for the 25-year-old right-back.

Bellerin, 25, has made 205 appearances for the north London club since making his debut in 2013, including 23 during an injury-struck 2019-20 season.

But he faces stiff competition for minutes at right-back thanks to the emergence of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and the permanent signing of Cedric Soares from Southampton.

As such, the Gunners are willing to part ways with Bellerin and technical director Edu has set a price tag of between €20million (£18million) and €25million (£23million) for the player.

The Gunners are keen to raise transfer funds as they continue to weigh up big-money swoops for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and Lyon’s Houssem Aouar.

David Luiz suffered a major injury concern with a neck problem

Arsenal head coachMikel Arteta is sweating over the fitness of key defender David Luiz after the Brazilian defender sustained a neck injury problem.

According to The Athletic, claims David Luiz’s issue requires particular caution and he could face an extended period of time on the sidelines.

As a result, Rob Holding is expected to remain at Emirates rather than join Newcastle United on a season-long loan deal.

Luiz, 33, is expected to miss Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Fulham on Saturday in the early kick-off at Craven Cottage.
