Arsenal news and gossip is coming in thick and fast and sportarena.com.ng is on hand to bring you all the very latest from Emirates stadium.
Arsenal to begin talks to sign Philippe Coutinho
Arsenal are reportedly preparing to begin talks with Philippe Coutinho’s representative, Kia Joorabchian, over a deal to sign the playmaker from Barcelona.
The 27-year-old has spent the season on loan at Bayern Munich but the German outfit are unwilling to make the deal permanent for £105million.
Barcelona are looking to offload several players this summer in order to fund new signing and Coutinho, who make impressive start in Bundesliga, with nine goals and eight assists among those made available.
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Philippe Coutinho but according to Le10 Sport, Arsenal are now positioning themselves to sign the 27-year-old.
The report claims that Mikel Arteta is behind the move as he ‘dreams’ of bringing Philippe Coutinho to Arsenal and would make the midfielder a focal point in the team.
It’s claimed that Gunners have made arrangements to begin negotiations with Joorabchian, although a move for the Brazilian is expected to be costly.
Arsenal could land Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele for just £37m
Arsenal could land Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele for as little as £37million this summer, with Sport reporting that the Catalan giants are ready to cut their losses.
Dembele has struggled to fulfil his potential since sealing a mega-money move to the Nou Camp from Borussia Dortmund.
A number of injuries and struggle in adapting to La Liga has seen the Frenchman falter in Spain. Despite this, the likes of Gunners are apparently keen on signing the youngster this summer if he is available.
And latest reports seem to indicate that the Gunners have a big chance of landing the forward.
Sport claims that Barcelona may now be willing to sell Dembele for as little as 43 million euros. That equates to around £37m, meaning the Spanish giants would be looking at a near £100m loss on the 22-year-old.
PSG in negotiations with Arsenal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
Paris Saint-Germain are understood to have kick-started negotiations with Arsenal over a summer deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gabon forward has been a key player for the Gunners since his move from Borussia Dortmund two years ago and he has registered 61 goals and 13 assists for the club from just 97 games in all competitions.
Despite his impressive showing, the club have failed to qualify for the Uefa Champions League in recent seasons and they face the possibility of missing out on the same during the ongoing campaign.
As a result, he has been reluctant to extend his stay beyond the summer of 2021 and it appears that he could head through the exit door when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.
According to Todofichajes, Les Parisiens are keen on landing a new striker this summer with both Edinson Cavani and Mauro Icardi likely to leave the club in the coming months.
AC Milan made move for Arsenal right-back Ainsley Maitland-Niles
AC Milan have reportedly keeping tabs on Arsenal star Ainsley-Maitland Niles – with the 22-year-old facing an uncertain future at the Emirates.
The Serie A side were previously linked with the full back, who is believed to be viewed as an alternative to Davide Calabria, earlier this year and may swoop this summer.
According to Football Italia, Milan could be tempted into a move due to Mikel Arteta now not considering Maitland-Niles as part of his first-team plans.
Arsenal make their move for St Etienne defender Wesley Fofana
Arsenal are looking to snap up St Etienne defender, Wesley Fofana, as the Gunners continue to build for the future under manager Mikel Arteta.
Gunners have already signed William Saliba from the Ligue 1 outfit with £20million last summer before allowing him to stay in France for this season.
And now, it appears boss Mikel Arteta is keen on landing Saliba’s defensive partner in St Etienne, with the Gunners boss eyeing a similar deal for Wesley Fofana.
Wesley Fofana has impressed this season with 14 appearances under his belt so far. At just 19, the young defender is clearly still learning the game but is also a massive talent.
