Arsenal draw Slavia Prague in Europa League quarter-finals

Arsenal will face Slavia Prague in the Uefa Europa League quarter-finals after the Czech champions eliminated Ranger in last-16 of the competitions.

The Gunners booked their place in the competition’s last eight with a 3-2 victory on aggregate despite losing 1-0 to the Greek champions at the Emirates stadium last night.

The Czech side have already beaten two British sides to get to this stage of the competition after beating Leicester in the Round of 32 and Rangers in the Round of 16, means Mikel Arteta’s side need to vergence when play host to them on April 8th before travelling to the Sinobo Stadium in Prague on April 15th.

Should Arsenal able to get beyond that stage they will then face either Spurs’ conquerors Dynamo Zagreb or Unai Emery’s Villareal in the semi finals of the Europa League.

Those ties are set to be played on the 29th of April and the 6th of May, with the final after that taking place in Gdansk on May 26th.

Arsenal could have been drawn against any one of Dynamo Zagreb, Granada, Ajax, Roma, Manchester United or Villareal and will be relatively happy with the draw considering the circumstances.

Fellow English side Manchester United will be relatively pleased after drawing Spanish side Granada in the quarter finals stage of the competitions.

Arsenal back in for Feyenoord attacking midfielder Orkun Kokcu

Arsenal are reportedly back in the mix to sign midfielder Orkun Kokcu after Feyenoord agreed to lower their asking price for the 20-year-old playmaker.

Kokcu, who made impressive breakthrough into Feyenoord first-team last season, heavily linked with a move Arsenal last summer, but the deal put off due to his £23million valuation.

However, according to Spanish outlet La Razon suggest that the 20-year-old playmaker could now be available for as little as £10m, as Feyenoord need to ease their financial problems.

The reports explain in details that, Leicester City and Leeds United included La Liga club Sevilla also credited with an interest in signing Kokcu, who scored two goals and an assist in 22 Eredivisie and Europa League games this season.

Arsenal-linked Abdallah Sima wins MOTM in Slavia Europa League win over Rangers

Arsenal transfer target Abdallah Sima has delivered superb display in his side 2-0 win over Rangers last night, winning the Man of the Match award despite playing in a new position.

Sima, 19, enjoying a superb season at Slavia Prague, with 19 goals and six assists under his belt from 33 games in all competitions.

His standout performances attracted interest from Arsenal, who compared him as club legend Thierry Henry. Even earlier this month, Slovakian coach Dusan Vrto told the Talking Fitbaw podcast: ‘Teams like Arsenal are interested in him, Barcelona also are interested, he’s a very, very talented player.’

Normally deployed on the right side of attack, Slavia Prague head coach Jindrich Trpisovsky opted to name Sima as the No. 9 in a 4-2-3-1 formation in the Europa League last-16 second leg against Rangers.

It proved an inspired decision as Sima did amazingly well, helping his side to a shock 2-0 victory at Ibrox to win 3-1 on aggregate and reach the quarter-finals of the competitions.

Indeed, he won the Man of the Match award, with BBC Sport reporting: ‘he showed an elegance in possession in both legs, gliding over the pitch and posing a serious threat’.

Speaking to iSport earlier this month, Slavia president Jaroslaw Tvrdik said Sima is free to leave in the summer, but only if they receive an offer in excess of £20million.
