Video: Watch Manuel Locatelli Spectacular Goal In Euro 2020 As Arsenal Pushing Hard To Sign The Talented Midfielder

Arsenal have submitted an official bid for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli, according to the Serie A club’s CEO Giovanni Carnevali.

The Gunners are in the market for a new midfielder this summer with boss Mikel Arteta keen on strengthen his squad following a disappointing 2020/21 campaign that saw Arsenal miss out on European football for the first time in 25 years.

Dani Ceballos and Martin Odegaard are already left the London club and return to their parent club while Granit Xhaka is on verge to completing his propose switch to AS Roma.

As a result of that, Mikel Arteta’s recruitment team are in the market to strengthen their midfield options and Manuel Locatelli, who establish himself as one of the best midfielder in Serie A last season, become an emerged target.

The 23-year-old has ranked among the best midfielders in Europe’s top five leagues for passes attempted per game, pass completion percentage, progressive passes and progressive carries.

His stellar performances throughout last campaign and impressive display in middle of park for Italy in current Euro 2020, attracted interest from Arsenal, who identified him as a potential replacement for Granit Xhaka.

Last week reports reports via the Daily Star, claimed the north London club have tabled an ‘important’ offer for Locatelli but will face stiff competitions in pursuit of Italian star.

However, Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has confirmed Arsenal ‘important’ offer for Locatelli but face stiff competitions in pursuit of Italian star as Juventus scheduled meeting with Sassuolo to discuss a potential deal for the 23-year-old.

‘Arsenal have made an official bid for Locatelli,’ Carnevali told Sky Sport Italia. ‘They’re pushing hard to sign Manuel and it’s an important bid. We will see.

‘Also Juventus want Locatelli and we’ve a special relationship with them. We’ve a new meeting scheduled with Juve.

‘We are trying to leave the lad calm, so I haven’t spoken to him or his agents yet. We can think about Locatelli’s future, but above all we care about his present and that means Italy doing well at the Euros.’

Locatelli, who subject interest from both Arsenal and Juventus produced excellent performances against Switzerland, as he bagged two goals in a 3-0 group stage victory.
