N’Golo Kante was once again delivered masterful display, as he giving absolutely everything for his side’s in 1-1 draw against Spanish champions Real Madrid in the Uefa Champions League semi-final first-leg tie at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium on Tuesday.

The tireless French midfielder, was the best player on the pitch against Los Blancos side as he willingness to press, irrepressible determination to regain possession and seemingly inexhaustible resource of energy were there for all to admire on Tuesday night.

Kante key cog in Chelsea’s midfield, allowed Blues attacker duo Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic to stole the spotlight and got a vital away goal against Spanish champions.

Despite Los Blancos starting Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro, who are perhaps three of the most important players in Madrid’s midfield options, Kante’s influence allow the Blues to dominated the midfield area for large parts of the game.

His non-stop running and three interventions were key in providing composure and efficiency in his side’s defensive performance, while also allowing Jorginho license to apply himself in a more play-making sense.

The 30-year-old tireless midfielder is a valuable player to have in transition, as he can win the ball back and spring forward. He is comfortable carrying the ball, as shown by his dribbling ability.

Against Los Blancos, he completed six of his eight attempted dribbles. Kante was key in getting them forward quickly and he launched several promising attacks. The Frenchman had 80 touches of the ball and completed 88% of his passes. Only Jorginho had more touches of the ball for Chelsea.

He probably could have had an assist too had Raphael Varane not cynically scythed down Kai Havertz just outside the box in the 77’. Looking ahead to next Wednesday’s second leg, Kante will likely be a pivotal figure again.

The World Cup winneris built for occasions such as these. The Frenchman’s big-game experience will ensure that the moment does not get to him. Tuesday’s performance was just another example of why Kante continually proves he’s a world class player.
