So talented: Watch Martinelli wondergoal in training which hints at new position for Arsenal

Despite lacking of playing time this season, Gabriel Martinelli has show still have a bright future at the club, with his latest training videos dropped a hint as to what’s in store for his future.

The 19-year-old, who joined Arsenal in summer 2019 from Ituano, made an instant impact with Gunners fans last season thanks to his energetic and intelligent play, helped, off course, handsomely, by his goals and contributed four assists across all competitions.

The Brazilian forward suffered a serious injury last June and made returned to action for the Gunners in December, but has been restricted to mostly cameo appearances off the bench.

But the highly-rated forward has clearly eager to show how hard he is working in training, as he posted a number of videos on social media from an individual session he took part in on Tuesday afternoon.

It appears likely that the forward is working on his striking prowess which isn’t a huge surprise when you consider Mikel Arteta’s comments about where he sees Martinelli’s position long-term.

‘[Aubameyang and Martinelli] are centre forwards but with the squad balance that we have at the moment, to play on those positions on the left we don’t have five players,’ Mikel Arteta told reporters after a 1-0 win over West Ham United a year ago.

Martinelli is expected to hand his sixth start of the season when Gunners play host to Olympiacos in second leg of their Uefa Europa League round of 16 on Thursday evening.

Meanwhile, Aubameyang, who found himself on the bench for the north London derby on Sunday after he was late to a team meeting before the game, took major part in Tuesday training session.

The 31-year-old has struggled in front of goal this season after signed lucrative new contract with the London club, but despite that is Arsenal’s top scorer for the season with 14 goals and the Gabonese has been in especially fine form over the last month or so with six goals in his last seven games.

Aubameyang, who regularly showed off his toothy grin throughout Tuesday’s training session, scored twice in the last-32 second leg with Benfica last month and will hope to make a similar impression in the last-16 finale with Olympiacos on Thursday evening.
