Werner, meanwhile, set-up Kai Havertz’s first goal before Tammy Abraham scored winner goal after Granit Xhaka equasile for the north London club.
Speaking following the win, Thomas Tuchel discussed the chances missed by his German striker.
‘He had an assist and we talked and analysed last season often enough given his situation. Nothing has changed so far.’ the German coach said when asked about last season’s poor goalscoring form carrying over into this season.
‘He had a so-so Euros with Germany but that was a concern of the whole team, not his personal problem. Then he had some days off and it’s on him, like always, to show his quality and ability.’
Thomas Tuchel, on the other hand, was pleased to see his side’s beat Arsenal to make it three wins from three in pre-season on Sunday afternoon.
‘I thought we played well in the first half, but then in the second half things became more difficult because we made a lot of changes,’ Tuchel told the official Chelsea website post-match.
‘We are happy. We are not in the freshest state physically at this moment, this is normal in pre-season, but we still managed to get the win which is very pleasing.
‘It was quite an open game, both sides had chances, but overall I was happy with what we created and of course happy to get the win.’
Despite Werner, scored 12 goals with additional of 15 assists in 52 appearances in all competitions last season, Chelsea are in market for new world-class centre-forward ahead of next season as Tuchel looks to build on his Champions League winning team and this could provide more competition for the German forward.
