(FT) MEX 1-4 BRA: Martinelli Scored Decisive Penalty As Brazil Defeat Mexico

The defending champions Brazil have book their place in the men’s Olympics football final after defeating Mexico in the penalty shoot-out, in which Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli was on target for the Selecao.

Despite the Selecao dominated possession and had a number of chances, Mexico side limited the quality of those chances while also threatening on the break in a cagey affair that featured nine yellow cards.

Both sides were unable to broken the deadlock, with the matches ended and heading to penalty shoot-out before Mexico went out with a whimper, losing 4-1.

Gabriel Martinelli, meanwhile, was among the target for the Selecao alongside Alves, Bruno Guimaraes, and Reinier.

The defending Olympic champions Brazil will face either Japan or Spain in Saturday’s final in Yokohama.
