Chelsea are made significant effort in able to land Romelu Lukaku from Inter this summer, by launch a third mega bid after seen their first-two bids rejected by the Serie A club, according to reports.
The European champions are in the market to recruit a new centre-forward after struggling to get goals through their traditional forwards last season.
It’s understood that the Blues were keen on securing the service of Dortmund’s Erling Haaland with the Norwegian still showing great signs of becoming a world class striker despite being only 21 years old.
However, the German giants reluctant to selling him this summer, following the departure of Jando Sancho to Manchester United, as a result of that the Blues turned their attention to elsewhere and are now keen on reuniting with Lukaku – a former academy star.
The powerful frontman endured a torrid time at Old Trafford between 2017 and 2019, despite impressing at West Brom and Everton in previous spells.
His shortcomings at Manchester United led to his sale to Inter Milan for a reported fee of £70million and since joining the Nerazzurri, the forward had been overly impressive, netted 64 goals in 95 appearances across all competitions.
Last season, the Belgian international was adjudged the Serie A player of the season after his goals guided the Guissepe Meaza outfit to their first Serie A title in over a decade.
And according to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Lukaku has caught the eye of the Chelsea board who are now fully committed to bringing him back to Stamford Bridge.
They have already had two bids rejected by Inter Milan – one that included a £100m offer plus Marcos Alonso – but are now preparing a new one in the excess of £120m.
The new mega offer is expected to force the Nerazzurri’s hand to sanction the 28-year-old striker’s sale despite previously stating that he is not for sale.
