Mikel Arteta responds to Sergio Aguero transfer speculation

Mikel Arteta has played down speculation Arsenal could sign superstar striker Sergio Aguero, but added: ‘We will see what happens.

On Monday evening, Aguero and Manchester City shocked many by announcing on Twitter that one of their greatest ever striker, who record-breaking decade at the Etihad stadium, will leave when his contract expires in the summer.

Speculation is rife as to where Aguero will end up, with a number of top clubs ready to offer the striker a contract, with including Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Even Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly positioned themselves in bids to land the 32-year-old forward before club icon Paul Merson told the Spanish coach to make move for the Argentine, who yet to make final decision regarding his next destination.

And despite Mikel Arteta had good relationship with Aguero during his time at Etihad as assistant manager, the Gunners boss played down Arsenal making a move at this point, before leaving the door open.

When asked about Aguero’s speculation, the Gunners boss said: ‘No, no,’ Adding: ‘We will see what happens with him in the future.’

Mikel Arteta provided an injury updates on Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka ahead of Liverpool clash

Mikel Arteta has confirmed youngsters Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka remain doubtful for Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday night.

Saka has been struggled with a hamstring strain, which saw him missed Gunners 1-0 defeat to Olympiacos in the Uefa Europa League.

The 19-year-old versatile player made returned to the Arsenal starting lineup against West Ham before the international break, but was forced to withdraw from England squad due to same injury problem and stayed put at Arsenal to receive treatment.

Emile Smith-Rowe, meanwhile, sat out of England Under-21s’ devastating European Championships defeat by Croatia on Wednesday night due to a hip issue.

Arteta revealed on Thursday morning that Bukayo Saka is yet to return to training ahead of the mouthwatering fixture with Jurgen Klopp’s side at the Emirates this weekend.

When asked about the winger’s fitness, Arteta said: ‘He hasn’t trained with the team yet.

‘He’s been doing some individual work. We had to pull him out of the England squad unfortunately.

‘He’s feeling better, but he hasn’t trained with the team yet.’

Arteta offered a slightly more positive outlook on Smith Rowe’s chances of playing though and hopes to have him back in training on Friday.

The 20-year-old’s hip injury is set to be assessed by the club on Thursday and Arteta added: ‘He had discomfort with his hip and that’s why [England] decided to keep him out.

‘We will see today how he is when we will speak with the doctors and the physios, and we will see if he is available for training tomorrow.’

Mikel Arteta provides update on Alexandre Lacazette future at Emirates

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta revealed Alexandre Lacazette’s future will be addressed in the summer amid reported interest from a host of top European club.

Lacazette, who has been in excellent form for the Gunners this season, will be entering the final year of his contract next season and there has been plenty of interest in his services.

Earlier of last week, reports claimed, Sevilla, Roma and Atletico Madrid are just a handful of clubs taking a closer look as teams across the continent eye a transfer.

And when speaking about his contract, the Spaniard insisted the club have plans to talk to the forward, who scoring 13 goals in all competitions – including three in his last four Premier League matches, at the end of the season.

‘The situation with Laca we will address in the summer, speak to him, propose the future we want and that’s it. Now I just want players focused and only focused on performing and getting the best out of them for the team.’

But where Alexandre Lacazette will be remains to be seen, though judging by Arteta’s latest comments he will be hoping it will be the Emirates stadium beyond next season.

The former Manchester City coach said: ‘He is sustaining that level, scoring goals and providing the team with something different as well. His work rate has been phenomenal and it’s what we want.

‘We need those type of players hitting the best level because over the course of the season we have been missing goals, that creativity in the final third and we need those players to step in and make the difference for the team.’

Arsenal will ramp up their interest in £27m-rated Christopher Nkunku this summer

Arsenal are set to revive their interest in RB Leipzig winger Chrisopher Nkunku this summer, according to reports in Germany.

His display are said to be attracting interest from Gunners chief again, and they are plotting to submit offer for the highly-rated winger this summer.

Nkunku, who also monitoring by Real Madrid, available for £27million, and RB Leipzig will be facing a battle to keep hold of him, along with a number of their top stars.

Arsenal Ready To Offer Inter €50M For Achraf Hakimi this summer

Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer Inter Milan €50million for Achraf Hakimi, with Mikel Arteta admires the Moroccan international services and keen on bring him to Emirates stadium.

Hakimi, 22, has been identified as a suitable replacement for Hector Bellerin, who lively to leave the London club at the end of the season.
