According to Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Houssem Aouar could be last-minute done deal project for Arsenal, who interested in signing the playmaker last summer.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder, who establish himself as one of the best prolific midfield in the world of football, has been heavily linked with a move to Emirates stadium last summer, but the deal failed due to materialised.
However, last season, the Frenchman endured a mixed season, sustained injury problem before falling out of favour under Rudi Garcia, but has still managed to produced a big impression in middle of park for Ligue 1 side.
Despite limited time on the pitch and battle with injury problem, Aouar, scored six goals and notched four assists across all competitions for Lyon last term.
In 2019/20 campaign, Aouar, who has played over 100 league games for Lyon already, and has also experience of playing in the Champions League and the Europa League, scored nine goals and contributed 10 assists across all competitions.
His performances in 2019/20 campaign had seen several clubs eye a move for the Frenchman, but it is stated that the Gunners, who in market for creative midfield were the only club to submit a bid.
The Gunners had held negotiations with the French side about bringing the attacking midfielder to London, but were unable to meet Lyon’s demands to make a deal happen.
Now, Lyon are handed Mikel Arteta’s side major boost in completing the signing of one of their primary target last summer, by offered Aouar to them in order to get him before the end of the month.
According to Italian expert journalist Fabrizio Romano: ‘Arsenal have been offered Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar but have not yet responded to the French club’.
Fabrizio Romano, now, confirmed Aouar potential deal could be last-minute, means starting from now till Tuesday evening, Arsenal have alot of chance to secure their long-term primary target.
FB: ‘Keep an eye on Houssem Aouar as a last-minute opportunity for English clubs, Arsenal have so far not given an answer for the OL (Lyon) midfielder.’
‘Tottenham instead tried an unsuccessful exchange between Serge Aurier and Emerson Royal with Barca, while continuing to look for a new midfielder and a right back in the last hours of the transfer market.’
Mikel Arteta’s side seem in desperate need of a signing like Aouar who could immediately lift the team as they’re heading into the international break rock-bottom of the Premier League table.
Despite splashed the cash on the likes of Ben White, Aaron Ramsdale, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Nuno Tavares and Martin Odegaard, Mikel Arteta’s men have nothing to show for it yet, so it’s clear that the side are still severely lacking.
Aouar has started and played the entire 90 minutes of Lyon’s four Ligue 1 encounters so far this season and holds an impressive record of 32 goals and 32 assists in 174 appearances for the club to date.
It is suggested that an offer in the region of £25 million may be enough to sign the Frenchman this time around, even a loan deal with option of buy next summer also available if Arsenal interested in signing the playmaker this summer.
